Take only pictures, Leave only footprints, Kill only time...

An early morning Sunday was. We had to be in Jeff City by 8 for Ani's last soccer game in her tournament this weekend. It was over by 9:30 and there was no chance for her team to advance to the finals, so we found ourselves taking the scenic-route back to Columbia. We headed to Hartsburg, a small river town, and found a mom-and-pop(as O likes to call them) cafe for some pancakes and biscuits and gravy. We barely scraped up enough cash, as Dolly's doesn't take a credit card. Ani thought we may have to wash dishes to pay for her breakfast!

We didn't make it to the annual Pumpkin Festival in Hartsburg this year, so we stopped by Hackman's produce to pick out a couple pumpkins to carve. The kids were enamored with the huge lopsided pumpkins, so we got one, as well as some blue hubbard squash, watermelon, a couple regular sized pumpkins and pie pumpkins. All for 13 bucks! Mr. Hackman cut us a deal being so late in the season and still having a rather large inventory. What a guy!

With our bellies a bit too full, a fall hike was in order. We headed to Three Creeks and spent a couple hours enjoying the foliage, crawling through caves, and playing catch with hedge apples. It was a fabulous fall day!
