Stranded in KANSAS

The first leg of our journey began uneventfully, with the kids stocked up on reading and drawing material to weather the long journey down I-70 Colorado bound. I thought Missouri weather was wacky and apt to change at the drop of a hat. Kansas has us beat for sure in that department! It went from 70 degrees and sunny, to sub-freezing, blizzard conditions, forcing the closure of the interstate and stranding us in the Days Inn, Colby, Kansas! Thankfully, we planned an extra travel day into our schedule for this very reason, and we are aren't due in Copper Mountain until Monday evening. Crazy weather! Incidentally, the coolest thing I saw driving through Kansas was a huge field of windmills generating power - a modern day Don Quijote!
