Ole and I watched a great independent film called Sweet Land. It take place in rural southern Minnesota during World War I, and is a love story of a Norwegian American and his bride from Germany. It is the story and their struggle for integration into 1920 America. I found it particularly interesting that the main charater's name, Olaf Torvik, is one letter off from ours. The beautiful cinematography of southern Minnesota farmland was particularly nostalgic for my Olaf - the farmland brought back fond memories of his grandparents farm, which was very similar to the farm in the film. Thhe accurate portrayal of the stoic, devoted, soft-spoken Olaf, was right on, and reminded me so much of someone I know.
