We always enjoy getting the chance to socialize with some people we might not normally at soccer tournaments, and this weekend we did just that and got to eat at the home of our favorite BBQ sauce, Gates Barbeque. YUM!
As the tournament went, we won a game and lost two, which is tough, but we got to play two teams from KC and one from Tulsa. Erika got the opportunity to play a different position this weekend since one of her team mates was sick, sweeper, which is the last defender before the goal keeper. She usually plays wing-back, and is quite good at shutting down the opposing forwards and mid-fielders as they come down the outside, but sweeper was a new challenge that she seemed to enjoy and do well considering the circumstances.
Between games we sought out a park near downtown KC for a picnic and a bit of relaxation.
The city of fountains...
Tulips on the Plaza...
The kids thought this street performer playing various non-traditional percussion instruments was way cool.
