As The True/False Film Festival draws near, I hope to view a few documentaries in the month of February. We got a jump start last night and watched First Descent, a film which chronicles the rise of snowboarding and gives a glimpse into snowboarding culture. It included footage of descents from some of Alaska's impressive backcountry boarding spots. I enjoyed the breathtaking Alaskan vistas and was in awe of the "gnarly" terrain attempted by the boarders profiled, which included freestyle champion Shaun White, and a backcountry boarder from right here in central MO, Shawn Farmer . I'm inspired to ditch the two planks and try to rip some sick tricks myself on our next excursion ;)
