Countdown to Christmas

What a whirlwind this time of year is. I have been reading the blogs of some other folks who have adopted the fun tradition of counting down the days until Christmas/Solstice in various ways. We have a red felt Advent calendar given to us a few years ago with little pockets for each day; just big enough to stick a little handwritten note inside. Each day Annika has looked forward to checking out the planned activity hidden inside. Today marks day 8 and we will be stamping wrapping paper and wrapping a few gifts:) Some of the other things we have done(some done with more enthusiasm than others;):

1) Cut snowflakes
2) Attend a Holiday concert(in this case, Erika's junior high choir concert. This would be one of the activities done with less enthusiasm on the part of Annika;)
3) Purchase a gift for a family in need. We chose Heifer International and bough two flocks of chicks for two familes in need.
4) Visit the Magic Tree
5) Hang our Christmas lights!
6) Make Granola
7) Make Chocolate covered pretzels
8) Stamp wrapping paper and wrap a few gifts
9) Address Christmas cards
10) Write a letter to Santa

This is a great idea. We will have to adopt this tradition next year!
